It was long ago when you could purchase a TV only on the basis of whether it was a colour or black-and-white TV. Also, the TVs can not just be purchased on their screen types like LCD, LED or flat screens. Nowadays, consumers often get startled by the terms 1080p LED TV or 4K TV or 8K TV.

What are Pixels?

8K, 4K, UHD, HD & many more: Screen resolutions and their usage?

All flat TVs have a native resolution. A native resolution is measured by the physical number of pixels on the TV screen.

The most common native resolution of High definition TV is 1920 X 1080p where the former stands for a grid of 1,20 pixels horizontally across the screen and later refers to the vertical grid of pixels.

With the technological advancements, TVs also got advanced in terms of their screen resolution. Then came Ultra HD TV, 4K TV or 8K. However, they sound different much different from each other but they actually mean increased resolution of a new flat-screen TV Nonetheless, 4K & Ultra HD (UHD) stand for the same resolution. A 4K TV or UHD TV has exactly 3,840 X 2,160 resolution i.e a total of 8,294,400 pixels. It is 4 times that of a full HD TV.

In recent times, most of the content is devised for the 4K resolution primarily. Most of the streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon, iTunes and Vudu all have plenty of 4K content streaming regularly. With a resolution of 4K, you can make most of the gaming consoles like the PS5 and XBOX series.

An 8K TV has 4 times the resolution that of a 4K TV. It has a resolution of 7680 x 4320 pixels i.e. 33, 177, 600 pixels. For best use of an 8K screen, you also need to have an 8K source and an HDMI 2.1 and on top of that both have to be compatible with each other.
